Resources - "Anatomie"

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Anatomie, A German terror-suspense film released in 2000, starring Franka Potente ('Run Lola Run'). A secret society of doctors working within a medical school do advanced research on subjects without regard for the subjects' well-being. Featured is their special Nazi-era 'polymerization' serum, which will turn one into... a Body Worlds sculpture. More prominent use of those sculptures than the 'House on Haunted Hill' remake.

Here's the Not Suitable clip. Enjoy.

Fetish Model Friday - Miss Mosh

Friday, November 7, 2008

Real-world proof that fashion dolls with angel faces, cornsilk hair and skin like sweet cream have taken up residence on our home planet. We can only imagine their motives, but these are best examined up close.

It's just a chair.

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

It's just a chair.
She woke suddenly, and the pain in her shoulders reminded her. She had blacked out with her arms held behind her by the restraints, body slumped forward in the chair. She let out a pitiful moan as she remembered where she was. How long had she been attached to that simple piece of furniture? As her blurred sight began to clear, she caught sight of his white coat. Something about it made her gasp, startled, recoiling instinctively. She slowly became more aware of her own state. She could barely move, but didn't want to. Every joint hurt. Her nose ached, and she tasted the blood seeping from it. There was a pool of it, dark red, on the floor below her. She coughed, and felt the rawness of her mouth, her throat gummy with his sour taste. Her wrists and ankles were raw and chafed from the cuffs that held them. Her breasts and buttocks were red and inflamed, soon to be black and blue. And her open sex, pressed bare against the fluid-slick wooden seat, was swollen and sore from violent penetrations she'd lost count of long before she'd passed out.

His hands, the hands which had done those things, were gentle with her as he unlatched the restraints. She moaned, sliding down onto the filthy concrete. He clipped the leash to her collar and muttered a few insincere comforts, which she didn't hear. She merely whimpered quietly, and a few sobs escaped. They were somewhat joyful sobs; she was free of the chair. Then the leash jerked her up, and forward, and she glanced back at that chair, simple and silent in the middle of the room, the inanimate accomplice. She followed him dutifully back to her cell. To her proper place, he had told her.

The room with the chair was silent for a while, as the blood seeped noiselessly down through the grate in the floor. Then the steel door slid open again, and a woman in the same type of starched white coat stalked in, stiletto heels clicking, leading a burly young man in a stout harness. The man was naked, except for the leather straps binding his hands and body. His protests were muffled by the leather panel buckled across his mouth. The door closed, and the woman turned to him, adjusting her glasses while keeping the leash taut. Her dark eyes narrowed, and she smiled.

"There, you see? It's just a chair..."

On another note, the MadSci store will be relocating soon, but just across the sim border. On yet another note, the famous chair is slowly taking shape.

The MadScience store has moved

The MadScience store, William region

The MadScience main store, along with the Moody Clinic, has relocated to the William region. Our benificent LandMistress in Narcolepsy, Darien Caldwell, is shutting down her land business. Due to the recent plague of server issues and what she feels is an inability to serve her customers adequately in the face of a fundamentally broken infrastructure, Darien is throwing up her hands in disgust. Hopefully she'll be sending a diplomatically scathing letter to our virtual overlords. While we at MadScience haven't lost all our faith (though reserves are at a critical low), we support Darien's decision to protest the situation with the only action that the management may really notice: revenue denial. We support Darien in her sincere flip of the bird to those who manage this imaginary world, and are glad she's choosing to remain a citizen of it.

As for our pursuits, we've planted stakes in the lovely island region of William, run by our dear friends Coyote Momiji and Fatz Scheflo. Our new location promises to be as welcoming as Narcolepsy. We have more space, more prim allowance, and we plan to carry on as before. The new Moody Clinic is ready as of this writing, and Nurse Affinity is doing sincere research on how to draw all you depraved individuals to her clutch-- I mean, draw you into helpful therapy sessions.

Meanwhile, you may enjoy seeing photos of the demolition of the Narcolepsy store.

Long Live The New Flesh

Sunday, June 1, 2008

David Cronenberg made some of the most insightful shock-horror films of the 1980s. Few mainstream critics understood that while Cronenberg's material was distributed as schlocky B-movies, the themes he was exploring were much deeper and more insightful. His stories are about psychological transformation through physical transformation, the evolution of the human body through technology, and the constant violence and sexuality that runs through the human consciousness. Mad Science indeed. Cronenberg is one gateway into subject matter for which The Director is organizing new investigations. Further details will follow.

An important note on Shivers: whereas most 'infection horror' movie plots involve government experiments gone wrong, or biological alien invasions, the sex-zombie parasites of Shivers were deliberately created by a deranged scientist, who leaves his explanation in a suicide note. Brilliance!

Deviant - The Abandoned Asylum

Sunday, May 25, 2008

I was snooping in a friend's profile recently (thank you, Stacks!), and happened to stumble onto something she stumbled onto... a location the Deviant sim I hadn't seen. Deviant is the selfsame brand of Riann Maltese, whose bondage furniture is ubiquitous on the kinky side of the grid, and with good reason: it's quality.

Riann and her friends are also talented builders, as you'll see when you visit their abandoned asylum on the hill in Deviant. It's wonderfully atmospheric, haunted shadows on the walls and the like. I thought of 'Session 9', 'The Ring', and the trashy but well designed 'House on Haunted Hill' remake while there. The only criticism I have is, you'll have a hard time doing any roleplay there. Most of the plentiful chairs and beds don't have sit animations properly installed, so you couldn't play out sitting or lying down. I expected more alarming, demented devices as well, from the purveyor of the best poseball system on the grid... Anyway, you can browse my travel photos at your leisure, and explore at you own peril...

The Impulsion 01

Monday, May 12, 2008

MadScience Laboratories presents the Impulsion 01, a new innovation in the field of induced pleasure. The Impulsion is a mechanical forced-stimulation device offering a comprehensive suite of features: positioning; restraint; anterior and posterior penetration; speed regulation, size adjustment, and stimulation system compatibility. The Impulsion 01 features twin independent shaft-driven movement, powered by an isolated nuclear microcore offering a generational energy supply, and only 33% estimated risk of critical accident. While MadScience Laboratories guarantees that the Impulsion will be compatible with any use, from recreational self-stimulation to harsh punishment, we must caution our users that the Impulsion has not been evaluated as a treatment for any sexual dysfunction. Under no circumstances should the Impulsion be used alone, or without a qualified operator present. Visit the MadScience Laboratories main store in Narcolepsy for a preview of this device, which we believe to be the highest quality fucking machine in the virtual world.

Pretty Pervy

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

Sometimes you run across ideas that would be fantastic to see in the SL world, but which someone manages to bring to full life in the real world.

Pretty Pervy is a fantasy costume workshop in the UK, specializing in inflatable latex creations one foot in the fetish world and the other somewhere in cartoons and pop culture. It's not hard to imagine one of their creations jumping off the page of an old 1980s issue of Heavy Metal. Look in the Past Projects section to see their twisted genius.

Big thanks to Coyote Momiji for reminding me of this site. Check her similarly inspired wares at Slick in the William region of SL. Now, damn you! Do I stutter? NOW!

At last, the kink... or is it?

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Some may be wondering, where's the kink? MadScience Labs is, after all, a place you can purchase kinky items for your virtual activities. But patience, dear reader. We are exploring a theme here, and the individual items will hang together as a whole in time. Hopefully.

Let's begin with some of the bleeding edge. (Literally?) Saturno Buttò is a Venetian artist whose themes are a crossroads of Renaissance classicism, mythological figures, and medical fetish iconography. His work glorifies the surgical clamp. http://www.saturnobutto.com/

Meanwhile, the browsing of Buttò's work goes well with the new FREE Nine Inch Nails album The Slip. Mr Reznor sounds just like always, but that's good. And "100% Free" is pretty damn good, too. http://theslip.nin.com/

Address from the Director

The Director
For your information and diversion, we present this transcript of the address given on all open communications frequencies throughout the Narcolepsy region, on the day of the opening of the new MadScience Laboratories facility, but its Director of Research, Rev Eponym, ARDC.

Of course, the obvious rhetorical question is, "Why Mad Science?" To which the appropriate response is, "Shut up, you hydrocephalic degenerate, rhetorical questions go unanswered!" But let us address such forgivably obvious inquiry with the respect it deserves, as a request for information. We are, after all, researchers, those who quest after knowledge, and the insight it brings.

The 'science' component should be self-evident. As evolving beings, we must continue to push toward a more sophisticated existence, toward improving the living human state. Science is the study of the mechanics of our existence, that which gives it both means and motivation. We ask why, so that we may understand, and live more productively by that understanding. We observe, so that we will see things never before seen. And when confident, we experience, so that we may partake in the expression of that which we seek.

So, for the 'mad'. The madness, the insanity. What genius of history has not been labeled insane by those less enlightened? To quest for understanding is to ask questions never asked, witness events never observed, experience phenomena never experienced by those too fearful, or too ignorant. Science bears its aegis of knowledge to defend us against calamity, but its champions must hold fast and brave the unknown, that it may be known, and comprehension may reign. Many would name this bravery 'foolishness', or even 'insanity'. But this is the madness that defies fear, and lands on the far shore with new knowledge, with clarity and insight never possible in a deranged mind. We drive onward across chaotic landscapes, sometimes plagued by the doubt and fear of ignorance. But in the end, we summit the peaks of incomprehension to gain new levels of sanity. This is the work we do, shunned by so many, and in our tireless honesty, we give it the name it has earned. Mad Science.

But of course, the path of science is merely the road we choose to travel. The thing we pursue down that road is the human sexual response, and its inscrutable nature. The magus Crowley said, "Our method is science, our aim is religion." Our paraphrasal of that famous line would be, "Our method is science, our aim is hedonism." Sexuality, made of passion and emotional ardor, can yet be qualified and quantified by scientific observation. The human brain exhibits definitive reactions to different stimuli and sensual experience. Our goal is to categorize these, to examine their origin, and their biological and psychiatric expression. If we must bore deep into the darkest areas of sexuality, then so be it. Technology is our primary tool, along with willing experimental subjects. The darkness of the human libido is a kaleidoscopic vista, holding lifetimes of information to be discovered, catalogued, and if we achieve our ultimate goals, we can understand their role in the continuity of human evolution.

The willful abandoning of the rational mind to uninhibited exploration is the long and twisting path we have chosen to explore, and explore it we shall, in freedom from fear of the judgments of outsiders. One day, they will benefit from what we have learned and done. And then, the name of Mad Science will be praised.

Excelsior, my friends.

Rev Eponym
Director of Research
MadScience Laboratories

The Brain That Wouldn't Die!

The question is posed, "What is Mad Science, exactly?" The Director will be addressing that very matter soon. Until then, witness this classic schlock fable of desire, scientific rebellion, lust, and destruction, the 1962 classic "The Brain That Wouldn't Die". Yes, the whole movie is public domain!

The new MadScience store

The new MadScience store in Narcolepsy
The new MadScience Laboratories store is now open in the placid region of Narcolepsy. The new structure embodies the Director's vision of a "fortress of knowledge" in which to explore the darkest fringes of the human psyche. Fabricated with materials and systems salvaged from the "wreckage belt" orbiting a nearby planetoid, the MSCI main store sets an example for resource conservation. Director Eponym has only just finished assuming control of the building's central control system, and plans to have its core AI in a communicative state as soon as time permits. Meanwhile, new products will be available as the fabrication systems come online. Check for updates here, or join the MadScience Test Subjects update group for the most recent news.
